One of the most famous Nereids is Thetis, for whom Zeus and Poseidon were once rivals. But when Proteus prophesied that the son born of Thetis would be mightier than his father, the two rivals withdrew and bade mortal Peleus to marry her. It was from this marriage that Achilles was born and according to legend, Thetis tried to make her son invincible by dipping him in the waters of the river Styx, but she forgot to wet the heel she held him by. When Achilles was killed by a poisoned arrow to his heel on the battlefield of Troy, Thetis and the Nereids rose to the surface to grieve for him, causing a terrible noise in the sea. The Achaians were seized with panic and the soldiers began to leave. The name of each Nereid taken from the long existing list, usually shows her quality too. Some of them express the qualities of the sea, some concern the caves and the sandy beaches, some other names express their generosity towards the fishermen. And Thetis express “Creation”.

M/Y Thetis is a distinctly shaped and conspicuously elegant mega yacht built into a welded-steel hull of 50 meters.
